We had an appointment to see Dr. Levy at Rady's Children's Hospital on Thursday. We got very good news! Dr. Levy agrees with Dr. Klugh in that our child is very likely to be normal. He disagrees only in the actual procedure to be done. Dr. Levy would like to try a ETV procedure, which is basically a hole he will put in using an endoscope that will allow the fluid to flow freely. Demetri has what is called aquedoctal stenosis. Basically, when his brain was forming, there was a block between his ventricles. All other testing came back normal, which means that this is not caused by some other abnormality. All parts of his brain look great and intact, so we are hoping and praying that he will be a healthy little monkey. We have one more appointment with Loma Linda on March 30th. This one is again, with an outstanding neurosurgeon. They will also do one more Level II ultrasound to take a good look at his brain. We are hoping for the best!
As we step into a new chapter of our lives, we shall share our adventures with the world :) Monkey is doing new tricks everyday and I want to share those with the people we love (and those who love us, too!)
